PROF DAVIDE LOMANTO

Graduated with distinction (Magna cum Laude) in Medicine & Surgery in 1983 and in Genera; Surgery in 1992, PhD in 1990 at University of Rome "La Sapienza", Italy. He is currently Professor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore; Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgical Centre (MISC) at the National University Hospital (NUH) and Director of the Advanced Surgery Training Centre (ASTC) at National University of Singapore. He received more than 15 Awards for his Scientific Studies; Editor of 5 Surgical Book including on Mobile App. Authors of more than 150 articles on peer- review journals. He is Associate Editor of: Hernia Journal; Asian Journal of Endoscopic Surgery. He is the Secretary-General, Past-President of the Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Surgeons of ASIA (ELSA), founding member and Advisory President Asia Pacific Hernia Society (APHS). Founding member and Past-President Asia-Pacific Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Society (APMBSS), President of Asia Endoscopic Task Force (AETF). He is President of the International Federation of the Societies of Endoscopic Surgeons (IFSES). He has been awarded the Honorary Membership of the Surgical and Endo-Laparoscopic Societies of Japan (JSES), India (IAGES), Indonesia (PBEI, PERHERI), Nepal Hernia Society (NHS) and Surgical Society (SSN), Philippines (Philippine College Surgeons PCS, PALES), Thailand (RCST), Europe (EAES, EHS) and Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburg, Scotland (FRCS Edin). He has been nominated (2021-23) Member of the International Committee of the Consortium of American College of Surgeons Accredited Education Institutes (ACS-AEls). He is Honorary Professor at Samarkand State Medical University, Samarkand - Uzbekistan and Honorary Visiting Consultant at Cebu Doctors University, Cebu-Philippines. Professor Davide Lomanto attained knighthood by the Italian Government on 26 December 2009.

DR LAU PENG CHOONG

Dr Lau Peng Choong is a Consultant Upper Gl, Bariatric and General Surgeon at Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur and an Honorary Visiting Consultant Upper Gl Surgeon to UMMC. He served as an Associate Professor and was Head of he Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery Unit at University of Malaya until August 2019. His subspecialty interest is in Upper Gastrointestinal and Minimally Invasive Surgery. His training includes a fellowship in Advanced Gastric Cancer Surgery in Seoul, South Korea plus he also did a year of clinical fellowship in Upper Gl and Bariatric Surgery in Coventry, United Kingdom under the sponsorship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dr Lau is the current Vice President of the Malaysian Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Society (MUGIS) and also the Vice President 2 of the Malaysia Hernia Society(MHS). He helped pioneered the first POEM (Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy) service for achalasia in Malaysia with his gastroenterology colleagues in University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). He was an early adoptor of using flourescent imaging in surgery in Malaysia and routinely uses it during laparoscopic gallbladder surgery and minimally invasive cancer surgeries. Dr Lau has helped trained many young doctors as well as surgeons for the country while serving as a faculty member in University of Malaya. He is currently appointed as the National Upper Gl Surgery Subspecialty Training Committee Board Member which governs the training of Upper Gl Surgeon in the country. He also currently serves as the National Specialist Register (NSR)Speciality Subcommittee Evaluator for Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery in Malaysia.

DR SATKUNAN MARK A/L GNANAPATHY

Dr. Mark graduated from Manipal Academy of Higher Learning in the year 2004. He then pursued his carrier in general surgery and obtained his Masters in Surgery from University of Science, Malaysia. He completed his training in laparoscopy with a diploma from Strasbourg. With interest in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery he pursued a fellowship program in Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery in King Chulalongkorn Medical University; Bangkok. He is currently a General and Bariatric surgeon in Hospital Fatimah Ipoh. Apart from minimal access surgery he has keen interest in Laparoscopic simple and complex Hernia Surgeries and clinical nutrition. He is currently the secretary of the Malaysian Hernia Society and Deputy Secretary of the Society of Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Society of Malaysia (SELSMA). He is also the past chairman of Malaysian Medical Association Perak Branch.

DR JOE FAN

Dr Fan was graduated in the University of Hong Kong in 1999 and obtained my fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburg in 2007, and Master Degree in the University of Hong Kong in 2010. He specialized in minimally invasive and robotic hernia surgery, colorectal surgery as well as surgical simulation training. He was appointed as Assistant Hospital Chief Executive in the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital and took up management role of the 2000-bed public hospital in Shenzhen and as director of International Medical Center (private services of HKUSZH) with great achievements. He is the immediate past president of Hong Kong Hernia Society and regular instructor of Hernia Essential course by Asia Pacific Hernia Society. He published more than 80 scientific papers in various international journals, and regular reviewer of British Journal of Surgery, Hernia, and actively involved in various International and regional professional societies.

DR SARFARAZ J BAIG

He specialises in bariatrics, hernia, AWR, hiatal, biliary and colorectal surgery. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles in various national and international journals. He is the Editor of books - "Newer Concepts and Procedures in Hernia Surgery - an Atlas* and "Management of Nutritional and Metabolic Complications of Bariatric surgery" by Springer. He has authored a book on 'Nutrition, Obesity and Bariatric Surgery and co-authored a number of monographs on "Diseases of Common Bile Duct" and "Liver Surgery". He has authored chapters in books of international repute such as Essentials of Mini-One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass by Springer. He is the Secretary of HSI (Hernia Society of India), Vice President of IAGES (Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons), ex EC member of IASG (Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology), and Chairman of OSSI IH (Obesity Surgeons Society in India-Integrated Health). Following his passion for teaching and training, he has been responsible for organizing a number of national level conferences and workshops. He runs training courses on MAS, bariatric and hernia at his center and has trained more than 200 surgeons from across the globe. He is one of the pioneers of AWR and bariatric surgery in India. Her runs the IFSO endorsed Certification Course on Integrated care of Obesity (CICO) to train physicians, surgeons, nutritionists, psychologists and physical trainers with cross specialty knowledge He spearheaded the first multicenter data collaboration in India on bariatric surgery and also the first publication on trends in ventral hernia procedures in India He is a Section Editor of Hernia, Associate Editor of Journal of Bariatric Surgery and is on the editorial board of Journal of Minimal Access of Surgery.

DR SUJITH WIJERATHNE

Dr Sujith Wijerathne graduated from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2008 and began his medical career at the National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore in 2009. He pursued General Surgery training at NUH, earning his MRCS (Edinburgh) in 2012, MMed (Surgery, NUS) in 2016, and completed specialist training in 2017. He holds fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and was accredited as a General Surgery specialist in 2017. Since 2015, he has served as a Clinical Lecturer at NUS and was appointed Adjunct Assistant Professor in 2021. He is actively involved in surgical education and has led various laparoscopy and suturing workshops. Dr Wijerathne is a member of SMA, ELSA, APHS, and SAGES, and has contributed as an instructor in regional ELSA workshops. He has authored multiple publications and presented award-winning research internationally. He has played a key role in developing the General Surgery service at Alexandra Hospital, where he currently serves as Head of General Surgery. His special interests include Minimally Invasive Surgery, Complex Hernia Surgery, Endocrine Surgery, and Endoscopy.

DR MOHAMMAD HISYAM BIN SIDIK

Dr Hisyam graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2002 and obtained his M.Med(surgery) in 2012. He has served in Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun before joining KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital as a consultant general surgeon.He has developed profound interest in laparoscopic surgery and is one of the founding members of Malaysian Hernia Society. He is currently involved in numerous workshops in training young surgeons in laparoscopic hernia surgery in this country.

DR KIYOTAKA IMAMURA

Dr Kiyotaka Imamura is a Dedicated Hernia Surgeon at Yotsuya Medical Cube, Tokyo, Japan. His main interest is the repair of ventral, especially incisional hernias Started eTEP access repair in 2018, has more than 200 cases, and main author of the eTEP chapter of the ELSA Manual. He has keen interest in laparoscopic suturing and is the official trainer of Laparoscopic Suturing of JSES(Japan Endoscopic Surgical Society).

DR R. PARTHASARATHI

Dr R. Parthasarathi is the Senior Consultant in Laparoscopic Hernia and Robotic Surgery, GI surgical Oncologist at Gem Hospital and Research Centre, Coimbatore India. He has obtained multiple international awards including Best Video Award at Taipei 3rd Asian Congress of Robotic and Endoscopic Surgery 2017, and Best Video Award for 2007 Stoppa Award at APHS Singapore for “Laparoscopic Suprapubic Hernia Repair”. He is also reviewer for international journals including World Journal of Gastroenterology, with 45 scientific research articles published under him. He is also editor of multiple laparoscopic surgery books including “Art of Laparoscopic Surgery-Textbook and Atlas 2020”

PROF RAKESH KUMAR GUPTA

Professor Gupta completed his undergraduate and postgraduate medical school in BPKIHS University. He then completed fellowship training, in colorectal Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) at Vilnius university oncology institute (VOIU) at Vilnius, colorectal division Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA, MIS & Abdominal Wall Reconstruction at National university hospital Singapore.Currently heading the MIS & General Surgery as a unit chief at BPKIHS. He has a special interest in Minimally Invasive Surgery, laparoscopic digestive and colorectal surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction and mesh-related complications. Additionally, he is training coloproctology and hernia surgery all over the Nepal and involved in surgical education within the general surgery residency program. He is founding member and president of Nepal Hernia Society (NHS), Board of governor Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeon of Asia (ELSA), Asia Pacific Hernia Society (APHS) and member of Nepalese association of surgical gastroenterology (NASG). He has more than 60 publications in international peer-reviewed surgical journals. He serves as member editorial board of World Journal of Surgical Procedures.

DR VIMAL KUMAR VASUDEAVAN

Dr Vimal Kumar Vasudeavan is the Consultant General and Minimally Invasive Surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital Penang. In addition, he is also the President of Society of Endoscopic Laparoscopic Surgery of Malaysia (SELSMA) and Malaysian Hernia Society (MHS). He completed his medical studies (General Surgery) in National University of Malaysia (UKM). He also done his Bariatric Surgery studies in Brussels, Belgium during 2009. He has also shared his experiences in various talks and workshop such as 16th AsiaPacific Congress of ELSA, Laparoscopic Hernia Repair Workshop, Annual International Congress of the Asia Pacific Hernia Society and more.

DR WAN MUHAMAD MOKHZANI

Dr. Wan Muhamad Mokhzani earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Calgary, Canada, in 2002, followed by a master’s degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2013. With over 12 years of experience as a consultant general surgeon and medical lecturer in the Department of Surgery at Universiti Sains Malaysia Health Campus, he has cultivated extensive expertise in various areas of general surgery. Since 2017, Dr. Wan Muhamad Mokhzani has focused primarily on laparoscopic hernia repair and has been actively involved in training general surgery trainees in both basic and advanced laparoscopic techniques
